Overview Campus Place Locator is a configuration of ArcGIS and a JavaScript application that offers a map-based view of interior and exterior assets on a university or business campus. Campus Place Locator can be used by employees, students, and visitors to search for a building space or employee by name or to use the map and floor navigator to find an area of interest. When the search function is used, the application presents a list of spaces or employees with similar names, allowing the application user to select the appropriate space or employee. The application will then show the location of the employee or space on the campus map. Requirements Campus Place Locator requires specific software. TiDBTiDB’s Implementation of the Percolator Transactional ModelTiDB incorporates the Percolator transactional model, originally developed by Google, to handle distributed transactions seamlessly. This model is crucial to ensuring that transactional operations in TiDB maintain the ACID properties—Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, and Durability—even across a distributed architecture. TiDB achieves this by employing a two-phase commit process, which coordinates writes across multiple nodes, ensuring that all changes are committed only when every involved node can participate.In this model, transaction states are managed using a series of timestamps generated by the TimeStamp Oracle (TSO). The TSO ensures that each transaction is consistently ordered, eliminating the possibility of data anomalies due to concurrent operations. By separating read and write paths, TiDB can efficiently manage read operations through the MVCC mechanism, while writes are safely replicated to maintain consistency.The Percolator model enhances transaction reliability, allowing TiDB to serve applications with stringent consistency requirements, such as financial systems, where maintaining data integrity is paramount. This model reinforces TiDB’s capacity to efficiently execute distributed transactions, providing a foundation for high-performance, real-time data processing environments.How Multi-Version Concurrency Control (MVCC) Works in TiDBMVCC is a pivotal component of TiDB’s architecture, enabling it to handle numerous simultaneous transactions without compromising data integrity. In a distributed environment, transactions often compete for the same data resources. MVCC addresses this by keeping multiple versions of data, which allows read operations to access earlier versions while write operations proceed independently.In TiDB, each key is associated with different versions, represented as Key_Version. This approach allows TiDB to provide isolation for read and write operations, ensuring that reads always see a consistent view of the data, unaffected by concurrent writes. For instance, even when a key is modified several times, a read operation can access the correct version based on its logical timestamp.MVCC’s implementation in TiDB ensures that Be " visible " to the query's MVCC snapshot, as discussed in Chapter 13 . Visibility information is not stored in index entries, only in heap entries; so at first glance it would seem that every row retrieval would require a heap access anyway. And this is indeed the case, if the table row has been modified recently. However, for seldom-changing data there is a way around this problem. PostgreSQL tracks, for each page in a table's heap, whether all rows stored in that page are old enough to be visible to all current and future transactions. This information is stored in a bit in the table's visibility map . An index-only scan, after finding a candidate index entry, checks the visibility map bit for the corresponding heap page. If it's set, the row is known visible and so the data can be returned with no further work. If it's not set, the heap entry must be visited to find out whether it's visible, so no performance advantage is gained over a standard index scan. Even in the successful case, this approach trades visibility map accesses for heap accesses; but since the visibility map is four orders of magnitude smaller than the heap it describes, far less physical I/O is needed to access it. In most situations the visibility map remains cached in memory all the time. In short, while an index-only scan is possible given the two fundamental requirements, it will be a win only if a significant fraction of the table's heap pages have their all-visible map bits set. But tables in which a large fraction of the rows are unchanging are common enough to make this type of scan very useful in practice. To make effective use of the index-only scan feature, you might choose to create a covering index , which is an index specifically designed to include the columns needed by a particular type of query that you run frequently. Since queries typically need to retrieve more columns than just the ones they search on, PostgreSQL allows you to create an index in which some columns are just " payload " and are not part of the search key. This is done by adding an INCLUDE clause listing the extra columns. For example, if you commonly run queries like SELECT y FROM tab WHERE x = 'key'; the traditional approach to speeding up such queries

Overview The Secure Campus is a place in the network (PIN), a cluster of buildings, where a company does business. This guide addresses campus business flows across all industries and the security used to defend them. Campus examples are company headquarters, or any group of buildings that requires network services. More complex than branches due to physical and logical scale, they support network access for employees, third parties, and customers across multiple buildings and floors. The Secure Campus is one of the six places in the network within SAFE. SAFE is a holistic approach in which Secure PINs model the physical infrastructure and Secure Domains represent the operational aspects of a network.
